Obituary - Hugh Carre

Hello Glenmore members,

It is with much sadness that I inform you of the passing longtime Glenmore member HUGH CARRE. He passed away on Sunday at the Jewish General from complications from a stroke last July, and then more recently colitis and C-difficile.
Hugh was a gentle soul and always had a smile on his face, and his favorite greeting of "Hey sport!" will be dearly missed around the club.

Visitation will be held on Sunday January 29 from 12 noon to 2pm, with a service to follow, at the Rideau Gardens on Sources, just north of the curling club.

Our sincerest sympathies to Hugh's family.

And this note from Ruth Downard sums it up:

For those who knew them...his wife Lil passed away last spring. They both always had smiles and jokes for all who were fortunate to know them. He called Lil "the supervisor" and deep down inside I believe Heaven now has two very active Supervisor Angels hard at work and side by side per usual."

TEAM FELIX ASSELIN - QUEBEC JUNIOR PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to Glenmore's Junior boys team of Felix Asselin, Marc-Alexandre Dion (Trois-Rivieres), Lewis South, and Sami-Guimond Jaber and coach Benoit Forget for winning the prestigious Quebec Junior Provincial title!

The event took place in Val D'Or, and the boys were perfect all week long winning all their games, and the championship!

They now move on to the Canadian Junior Championships taking place February 4-12, 2012 in Napanee ON.

CONGRATULATIONS!! JOB WELL DONE!!

Dickie Young - In the hospital

Hello friends,

Some of you may have heard that Dickie Young is in the hospital.

Over the Christmas holiday, he was taken to the Jewish General for surgery to repair an artery.

He is currently in ICU and recovering from the surgery.

Glenmore to Honour MARTHA DON with Honorary Membership

GLENMORE FUNDRAISER - AUGUST 20TH

From Glenmore member Jen Robillard:

I am running a marathon as a participant of Team In Training on October 16th.

To help raise funds, I will be having a BBQ event at Glenmore on SATURDAY AUGUST 20th, 2011.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to help fund research to find new treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and provide critical education and support to patients and families battling these cancers.

I would like to get Glenmore members out to participate, there will be doorprizes and raffles, and the cost is $10.

Team Fong Qualifies for Dominion Provincials

Congrats to the team of Stan Fong, Mike Whittingham, Benoit Forget, and Mike Kennedy for qualifying for the Dominion Curling provincials to be held in Quebec City in October 2011.

The Montreal regionals were held the weekend of April 15-17, 2011 at Boucherville Curling Club. Team Fong of Glenmore was one of three teams that qualified from the 14-team field.


On the ladies side, Team Laura Thomas gave it their best shot, but lost a close extra end game in the B-side semi-final qualifier.

KURLING FOR KIDS 2011 - $201,000 RAISED!!!

To all KforK supporters, the final numbers are in! Thanks to your support and generosity, WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! This year, with a last minute push and a generous donation from one of our corporate sponsors, BBB, we have raised $201,000!!! This is an amazing total, and the Montreal Children's and Hopital Ste Justine thank you, on behalf of the kids!!!

TEAM FELIX ASSELIN wins the Curling Quebec Juvenile title

Congratulations to the team of Felix Asselin, Marc-Alexandre Dion, Lewis South, and Sami-Guimond Jaber, and fifth Gabriel Belisle with coach Benoit Forget for capturing the Curling Quebec final Juvenile category!! They will represent Quebec in the U18 in Toronto next year against teams from Canada, USA, and Japan.

Way to go, boys! Bravo!! =D>

2011-04-10 - Les champions Juvéniles gars

C'est l'équipe de Félix Asselin de l'équipe Glenmore/Trois-Rivières qui a remporté la finale dans la catégorie juvénile gars contre l'équipe d'Antoine Provencher de Laval par le marque de 6-4.
Ils représenteront le Québec à la compétition U-18 en 2012. Ce tournoi aura lieu à Toronto et accueillera des équipes du Canada, des États-Unis et du Japon.

GLENMORE AWARDS NIGHT CAFE GLENMORE - APRIL 15
