This is the "relaxed" league of the Glenmore club. Here new players have a chance to play the game without feeling any pressure at all. There are experienced curlers in this league, but they come on Fridays for fun and relaxation. They become in fact unofficial coaches or trainers for new curlers.
The TGIF co-ordinator and helpers are responsible for forming teams out of those who have registered; as best as they can, they balance the teams from a skill level and a "fun" level point of view. And to make sure that all members meet as many others as possible, on or off the ice, teams are changed after 4 games.
The league plays on Fridays, and 8 ends are played except when Café Glenmore is on, at which time 6 ends are played. Draw times are 7 and 9pm. A team's draw time will alternate from week to week.
To increase the feeling of relaxation, scoring in this league can be regular or highly innovative. The co-ordinator will advise all teams of the scoring system used during each round. Currently, scoring is maintained on an individual basis and points are awarded as follows: Default=0, Loss=1, Tie=2, Win=3.
During the year, there will be 4 or 5 rounds of four games each, and at the end of the year, if ice is available, an all-star team play-off will be held to determine the TGIF champions; they will each receive prizes or trophies at the end of the year during the AWARDS BANQUET. Otherwise, the winners selected will be the skip, 3rd,2nd and lead who accumulate the most points during the season.
The league coordinator for 2009-2010 TGIF is Michael Tomaszewski.
