This is the competitive league of the club. Teams vie for the end of the year club trophies. Many of the teams will also represent Glenmore at different outside bonspiels and branch competitions; nonetheless, there are enough levels in this league to cater to the new as well as the experienced curler.
Members get together to form a team; teams can be composed of men and women in any combination and the order of play is determined by the skip. Individual members can advise the OPEN LADDER co-ordinator that they are available to join a team and he will make up teams as required. There is a maximum of 48 teams that can be part of the ladder.
The open ladder plays on Sunday (E,F), Monday (A or B) or Tuesday (C,D). Games are scheduled for 7pm or 9pm.
Scoring is kept according to the rules of curling. Points for wins and losses are determined in accordance with the number of sections in the league.
At the beginning of the year, teams are placed in different sections according to their performance in the previous year. New teams always enter in the lower section. There are usually three rounds of 7 games per year. Points earned in one round are used to reclassify the teams for the next round and, at the end of the year, the winners of the "A" section are declared CLUB CHAMPIONS.
After all games are played in the last round, the top 2 teams (win/loss record) in the last round from each section will play a one game playoff to determine who will get the Section trophy. If 3 or more teams have the same record, tiebreaker games will be played to determine who moves on to the section final.
The league coordinator for 2009-2010 Open Ladder is Agnes Lanthier.
