Opening Oktoberfest Bonspiel 2007

November 2nd and 3rd, 2007

The opening Bonspiel is the kick-off event for the Glenmore Curling Club, and takes place the last weekend of October. It is a chance for experienced curlers to shake off the summer rust, and for the beginner curlers to put into practice what they have been taught at the free clinic. Sign up as an individual and teams will be made. This year it's a 2-game fixed 8-end simple points spiel with a dinner on Saturday evening. Look for sign-up sheets that should be posted around the time that the clinics are conducted at Glenmore. The main purpose of the opening Bonspiel is to introduce the new curlers to the great sport of curling and introduce them to one of Glenmore's in-club social events.

The games are scored by points, so every game must play all eight ends. The only exception is if a team conceeds the game, and remaining points to the other team.

Scoring is pretty simple this year! One point for every point taken in the game! Here's the twist: for each game, a random end will be chosen, and the points for that end will be doubled!
