General Rules

1. Please arrive at your game a MINIMUM of thirty (30) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time. The coin-toss will be done prior to the teams going out on the ice, and will be administered by the official at the club. In addition, all equipment will be inspected prior to going out on the ice surfaces.
2. All games are eight (8) ends. The losing skip can concede at any point in the game. An 8-end game should take no more than 2 hours 5 minutes to play. Slow play will not be permitted.
3. Should a game be tied after 8 ends, winners will be determined by an extra end.
4. The Free Guard Zone (4 Rock) Rule is in Effect
5. All games must commence at the time scheduled. A team arriving late without acceptable reason will be penalised one (1) point, one (1) end and the hammer for each five (5) minutes that they are late (see rule # 1). After thirty (30) minutes, the game will be defaulted. In addition, late teams will not be permitted to practice.
6. All players must remain on the ice surface (ice shed) at all times during the game. Should a player have to leave the ice shed, an official must be notified.
7. Only Skips and Thirds are allowed in the house at any time.
8. A team may play with only three (3) players. In such a case, the first two (2) players will deliver three (3) consecutive stones each per end.
9. No foul language, throwing or smashing of brooms will be tolerated. Offenders may be subject to suspension or expulsion. This tournament is bound by the Code of Conduct.
10. During the measurement of a stone, only the designated vice-skips are allowed in the House. In most cases, measurements should be done by the players on the ice. You may ask the official for assistance.
11. The CCA Rules of Curling shall apply in all other situations.

Timeout Rules

1. Each team is allowed two (2) one (1) minute time-outs, during the game. Timeouts are to be called from the ice and not the coaches, although coaches may signal for their intention behind the glass. In case of an extra end, one timeout is permitted during the end.
2. Once a timeout is signalled from the players on the ice, it must be indicated to the official before the coach and/or the alternate player, from both teams, can go onto the ice. Should a coach signal a timeout, and the team on the ice changes the call indicated without officially calling a time-out, the team will be charged by the official. On-ice players will be notified if this rule is violated.
3. The team who calls the timeout has the right to go down to the other side of the rink, if necessary. In this case, coaches are asked to walk on the edge of the sheet of ice, and must either stand outside the hog-line, on the side of the sheet, or on the back-board. Should a coach be in an illegal position, the official will indicate this. No additional time will be given.
4. Timing of a timeout begins when the team who called the timeout begins speaking to the coach (or the coach begins speaking to the player). Interpretation: If a coach wishes to go to the other side of the ice, and the players are talking to the coach as they are walking, the time will start. If the team waits until the coach is at the other end, the time starts then.
5. Coaches/alternates must wear curling shoes at all times. Those who do not obey this rule will not be allowed to go out onto the ice for practice or for timeouts.
6. Banging on the glass, jumping up and down or other actions to get the players attention is prohibited.
7. One (1) coach may signal for a timeout, but it is up to the players on the ice to call it. Parents and other spectators are also subject to this rule. Teams who violate this rule may be charged a timeout.
8. The only acceptable signal allowed behind the glass is a T-signal. Coaches may stand up and make the signal. All other signals are not permitted.
